Surgery and Implants

The Alcoforado Clinic has the most advanced knowledge in the placement of implants to replace missing teeth. With more than 30 years of experience in this area, together with the most advanced techniques and complementary diagnosis methods, we aim to improve dental comfort, function, health and aesthetics.

The implantology services performed at the Alcoforado Clinic are implant placement surgeries, bone regeneration and maxillary sinus elevation, among others, and always performed by experienced physicians. All these procedures are performed in a modern operating room, complying with all sterilisation requirements for surgeries of this type. In ideal situations, the fixed temporary crown can be placed immediately. In other situations, the implant will heal without a crown, but always safeguarding aesthetics, or rather, the Patient will never be without a tooth or without a temporary, fixed or removable prosthesis.
A certain amount of bone volume is required for placing implants. If bone volume is insufficient, then the option is bone regeneration surgery. With a bone graft, the implant can be placed immediately or after the graft heals. In patients who have lost posterior teeth in the upper jaw, it may be necessary to resort to maxillary sinus elevation surgery in order to increase bone height.
In lengthy surgeries or for more anxious patients, conscious sedation or even light sedation can be performed, providing a calm and serene environment.
The Clinical Direction believes that, with the help of the right drugs (after a thorough evaluation of the Patient's medical history), the Patient should not experience more than mild discomfort after performing any of the aforementioned surgeries.

L-PRF PROCEDURE
At the Alcoforado Clinic, we use a procedure called L-PRF (Platelet and Leukocyte Rich Fibrin) in several surgeries. This technique allows us to obtain a biomaterial from the patient's own blood. Its purpose is the natural and accelerated healing of tissues, helping to reduce oedema and post-operative pain, because it acts positively in the inflammatory process. This technique can be applied in several types of surgeries such as maxillary sinus elevation, gingival grafts, among others. The blood is collected by an experienced nurse on the day of the surgery, already inside the operating room at the Alcoforado Clinic.

RECOGNISED FOR ITS PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE IN PERIODONTOLOGY, THE ALCOFORADO CLINIC ENSURES THE PREVENTION, TREATMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF GUM HEALTH AND OTHER TISSUES THAT SUPPORT THE TEETH.
